Charleston Ballet Theatre
The Charleston Ballet Theatre was founded in 1967 and started the professional
component in 1987. One of the primary artistic goals of the directors, Don and
Patricia Cantwell and resident choreographer Jill Eathorne Bahr has been to
develop a distinctive repertory offering a mix of works by great contemporary
choreographers, and still deliver classics like the Nutcracker to a welcoming
audience. Performance venues vary, including traditional ones such as Sottile
Theater and Gaillard Auditorium as well as studio performances and outdoor
sites.

Charleston IMAX Theatre
Think big at IMAX! A spectacular immersive film experience that enlightens,
inspires and educates on a screen five stories high and as wide as a basketball
court. The only 3D theatre in South Carolina is located next door to the Aquarium

Charleston Stage
Charleston Stage, in residence at the Historic Dock Street Theatre, which is
open daily for free self-guided tours, is one of South Carolina's largest arts
organizations. Charleston Stage presents a full season of plays, musicals and
theatre-for-youth productions throughout the year. Located in the heart of the
Historic District, it is within walking distance of the Historic Market and

Footlight Players
Nestled in the historic district is a former cotton warehouse, renovated by the
Footlight Players in 1941 and transformed into a beautiful, quaint, 240-seat
theatre. Founded in 1934, the Footlight Players is SC's oldest continuously-operating
theatre organization and today produces six main stage productions from
August - May. Senior, student, group rates and student rush rates are

The Dock Street Theatre
Open daily for free self-guided tours. Built on the site of one of America's
first theatre buildings (1736), the present theatre, built within the walls of
the Planters Hotel (1809), is a recreation of a Georgian Playhouse. With its
beautiful hand carved cypress interior, it is one of the most beautiful theatres
in America and considered the crown jewel of Charleston’s cultural life.
Owned and managed by the City of Charleston, the Dock Street Theatre plays
host to the Charleston Stage Company, Spoleto Festival USA, The Moja Arts
Festival and many other events throughout the year.
